Bhalukpong Fort

Bhalukpong sits on the banks of the colossal Kameng River and rims the opaque forests that form the border of the Pakhui Game Sanctuary. Bhalukpong is a doorway to popular destinations like Tawang and Bomdila, but owing to its own charisma, it is also a chosen picnic spot and people from neighboring areas of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh gather yearly in clusters to enjoy the picnics. Built by King Bhaluka on the shorelines of the Bharali River, the relics of the fort have a few blocks of brick structures and remnants of ring wells even today on the slope of the hummock. It is said to be connected with formidable Salasthambhas who ruled the area from the middle of the seventh century. Later, it was ruled by the Palas of Assam during the 10th to 12th century CE. Besides the relics of the fort, the essential Historical identities of Bana, grandson of King Bhaluka and the valiant character of Mahabharata are also well-preserved here. A brick wall and a tarn are also found here. Majorly inhabited by members of the Aka tribes, the yearly Nyethidow festival of the Aka tribe is celebrated in January in Bhalukpong, Thrizino
