7-DAY NORTHERN SERENGETI MIGRATION SAFARI – MARA RIVER CROSSING

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be met by your safari representative and transferred to Arusha, the gateway to Tanzania Northern Safari Circuit. Located at the foot of Mount Meru, Arusha is surrounded by lush coffee plantations and scenic landscapes. The remainder of the day is at leisure allowing you to relax and prepare for the exciting safari adventure ahead. Accommodation is at Arusha Planet Lodge. Meal Plan is Dinner and Breakfast.

After breakfast depart for Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania most rewarding wildlife destinations known for giant baobab trees and impressive elephant populations. The Tarangire River attracts lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, leopards and numerous antelope species and offers excellent game viewing. Following a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch continue to Karatu for dinner and overnight. Accommodation is at Farm of Dreams Lodge. After breakfast depart for Serengeti National Park via the scenic Ngorongoro Highlands. As you enter the Serengeti ecosystem the landscape gradually transforms into endless plains stretching as far as the eye can see. Enjoy game viewing en route as you travel through wildlife-rich areas toward Central Serengeti, also known as the Seronera region, famed for abundant resident wildlife and thriving predator populations. After breakfast enjoy a game drive as you journey north through Serengeti National Park toward the Kogatende region in Northern Serengeti. During migration season vast herds of wildebeest and zebras move through this area in search of greener pastures. Along the way enjoy wildlife sightings and stunning scenery before arriving in Northern Serengeti where the Mara River crossings create some of the most dramatic wildlife spectacles on earth. Spend a full day exploring Northern Serengeti and tracking the Great Migration herds around the Mara River. Between July and October thousands of wildebeest and zebras gather along the riverbanks before making the perilous crossing into Kenyas Maasai Mara ecosystem. These crossings are among natures greatest spectacles and can feature giant Nile crocodiles, lurking predators and dramatic wildlife interactions. The region is also home to elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs and a variety of birdlife. Accommodation is at Heritage Mara Kogatende Camp. After breakfast enjoy a final game drive in Northern Serengeti before beginning your journey south through the Serengeti ecosystem. Continue to enjoy game viewing while taking in the spectacular landscapes that define this remarkable wilderness. Arrive in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in the late afternoon where you will enjoy panoramic views of the highlands and prepare for your crater safari the following day. Accommodation is at Embalakai Ngorongoro Camp. Meal Plan is Full Board including Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

After an early breakfast descend into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africas most extraordinary wildlife sanctuaries and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The crater floor supports an incredible concentration of wildlife including lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, hyenas and the endangered black rhinoceros. Enjoy a game drive and picnic lunch surrounded by breathtaking scenery before ascending the crater walls and returning to Arusha in the afternoon where your safari concludes.
