7 Days Nagaland Heritage Tour

Upon arrival at Dimapur Airport/Railway station, our representative will greet you and drive to Kohima (75 km) the capital of Nagaland.
Enroute have some tea break in between.
We start our Kohima tour with a visit to Kohima War Cemetery. It is a war memorial built and maintained by Commonwealth War Graves Commission in the memory of soldiers who lost their lives in World War - II by the invading Japanese forces.
In the evening proceed to Khonoma village and spend the night in a cosy homestay.

After breakfast drive to Viswema the village where the trek starts to the Dzukou rest house. We will begin with a 1.5-hour uphill trek through dense bamboo thickets that might need to be parted at certain spots to move ahead along the steep trek route. We assure you that the mesmerising views along the way will soothe your inhibitions. We will take a short break to recuperate.

After the steep 1.5-hour trek, we will walk for another 3 hours through plain lands to reach Dzukou Valley. The panoramic views of the valley, the majestic mountains surrounding you and the natural green environment make the trek most worthwhile and memorable.

At this point, we reach our Dzukou Valley campsite freshen up, have dinner and rest for the night. Overnight Stay at Dzukou Valley (Camping).

Today we shall drive further North to Mokokchung, the land of the Ao Nagas. Check into Hotel on reaching. Evening visit an Ao Naga village, you will get a rough idea of the cultural differences among different tribes.
Overnight at Hotel Metsuben or Similar.

Early morning after breakfast start towards Jorhat district of Assam (160 km) which takes around 5-6 hours. On reaching check-in at a hotel/tea bungalow. In the evening visit nearing Tea Estate.

Today morning after breakfast we will be driven to Mon(146 km from Jorhat) one of the most exciting destination in our Nagaland travel packages.
Enroute we will visit the historical city Sivasagar and watch the ancient heritage of Assam. We stop at few important monuments constructed during Ahom dynasty during 1500- 1700 century. We start with Rang Ghar, Kareng Ghar, Shiva Doul and Sivasagar Tank. Shiva Doul - is a 17th century Shiva temple famous for its tallest dome. Said to be one of tallest Shiva temple in Asia and Sivasagar Tank(Bor Pukhri) is a vast tank constructed during Ahom dynasty in the 17th century. Post that proceed to Mon town the home of last known head hunters.

Today we visit Longwa village and meet the king and his family. Longwa Village(42km), is the biggest village in the Mon district - the abode of Konyak Naga tribes. This village is located on the international border of India and Myanmar (Burma). An amazing fact about the village is that one part of its chief's (Angh's) house is located in India and another part in Myanmar. You will see traditional thatched roof houses and houses decorated with the skulls of animals here. You can purchase shawls and traditional jewellery made by the villagers and the chief's wife.

When you arrive in the village, go on a walking tour. Make your way to Chef's(Angh's) domicile and stay in a traditional homestay embellished with antique artifacts and wooden sculptures. In the afternoon, return to your homestay/resort in Mon Town and rest for the night.

Today we will visit another traditional village where you can meet many tattooed head hunters. It takes around 2 hours to reach the Hongphoi village from Mon town. On reaching, we head to Chef's place, have a chat, and take photographs of them. Walk around the village and visit the Morung. In the afternoon, return to hotel and relax for the night.

In the evening return to hotel and rest for the night.
