This exclusive 8 day Tanzania Migration Safari in the Wilderness designed by Way 2 Africa Expeditions provides one of the most immersive, authentic and richly rewarding journeys through the heart of the northern Tanzania safari circuit, combining the dramatic Great Wildebeest Migration, the remote volcanic landscapes of Lake Natron, the predator filled savannas of the Serengeti, the ancient baobab forests of Tarangire National Park and the extraordinary natural wonder of the Ngorongoro Crater. This is a deeply experiential itinerary crafted for travelers who want to explore beyond the traditional routes and witness Tanzania’s rarest landscapes while still enjoying a curated blend of luxury and mid range comfort.
From the moment you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport and are welcomed by your Way 2 Africa Expeditions team, your journey unfolds into an extraordinary adventure through diverse ecosystems, cultural encounters and world class wildlife viewing opportunities. Your first night in Arusha sets a peaceful tone, with accommodation at the luxurious Gran Melia Arusha or comfortable mid range properties such as Forest Hills Hotel and Ritzy Arcadia Cottages. This warm introduction gradually transitions into your exploration of Tarangire, a park known for its towering baobab trees, vast elephant herds and panoramic savannas.
However, what truly makes this itinerary stand out is the inclusion of Lake Natron, one of the most unique and breathtaking destinations in East Africa. Lake Natron is a dramatic soda lake located at the base of the active Oldoinyo Lengai volcano, known as the Mountain of God. The region’s rugged beauty, geological wonders and cultural experiences with the local Maasai people make it a rare and enriching addition to any migration safari. You will explore flamingo breeding sites, remote waterfalls, volcanic gorges and sweeping desert like plains before continuing northwards toward the Serengeti.
The Northern Serengeti awaits with some of the greatest wildlife spectacles on the planet. Here you will follow the Great Wildebeest Migration as hundreds of thousands of animals gather around the Mara River, often attempting dramatic crossings watched closely by crocodiles, lions and big cats. Two full days in this region give you the best chance to witness unforgettable migration scenes. The journey continues southwards to the Central Serengeti, a wildlife rich region famous for its year round predator action thanks to the permanent Seronera River that sustains immense animal populations throughout all seasons.
Your safari concludes with a magical descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with an extraordinary density of wildlife including elephants, lions, hippos, flamingos, zebras, buffaloes and the rare and endangered black rhino. The Ngorongoro Crater offers one of the most scenic and rewarding game viewing experiences in Tanzania before your journey ends with a scenic drive back to Kilimanjaro International Airport.
