Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrival

    On arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) Bagdogra Airport (IXB) Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus (Junction) Siliguri Guest will be received by our executive who will be waiting just outside of the airport or railway station He will assist guest to board the vehicle to proceed for Phuentsholing The drive is of 165 kilometers i.e. 4 to 4 hours drive through the lush green Tea Estate of Dooars - On arrival at Phuentsholing Check into hotel - The border of India and Bhutan, the Indian side is known as Jaigaon and the Bhutan part is called Phuentsholing - Situated at an altitude of nearly 980 feet is a small settlement Night stay at Hotel at either Phuentsholing or Jaigaon.

  • Day 2 : Thimphu

    Early morning breakfast Obtain permit with assistance from our representative - Proceed for Thimphu The drive is beautiful, and one can see some waterfalls along the way Thimphu is a charming city, probably the smallest capital in the world, resting in the heart of the Himalayas - The skyline hardly changes as new buildings are all constructed in traditional Bhutanese style - It is situated in the western central part of Bhutan It is a lively place, interesting combination of tradition and modernity - Thimpu is situated at an elevation of 2350 meters 7710 feet - Reach Thimpu - Check into your hotel on arrival - Overnight stay at hotel in Thimphu.

  • Day 3 : Thimphu

    Early morning breakfast - Visit to the National Memorial Chorten built in honour of our late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk and the Dupthop Lhakhang One can visit the National Library, stocked with ancient Buddhist manuscripts, and the Painting School where traditional art is still kept alive through instructions in the art of painting Thangkas - After lunch visit Traditional Medicine Institute and to Lungtenzampa - Visit to the Tashichho Dzong, seat of the national government and the Central Monastic Body, including the summer residence of the Je Khenpo - The Tashichho Dzong is open to visitors only in winter when the Je Khenpo and the monks move to Punakha the ancient winter capital of Bhutan - Drive to Simtokha Dzong and visit the Handicrafts emporium followed by shopping for souvenirs - Over night stay in Thimphu.

  • Day 4 : Punakha

    Early morning breakfast, drive up to Dochu-la pass (3088 meters 10130 feet) stopping briefly here to take in the view and admire the chorten, mani wall, and prayer flags which decorate the highest point on the road. If skies are clear, the following peaks can be seen from this pass (left to right): Masagang (7158 m), Tsendagang (6960 m), Terigang (7060 m), Jejegangphugang (7158 m), Kangphugang (7170 m), Zongphugang (7060 m), a table mountain that dominates the isolated region of Lunana - Finally Gangkar puensum, the highest peak in Bhutan at 7497 meters - Reach Punakha - Visit to Punakha Dzong, built strategically at the junction of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers in 1637 - Overnight at the hotel in Punakha.

  • Day 5 : Trongsa

    Early morning breakfast and drive to Trongsa - Trongsa is a historical town where the first monastery was built in 1543 - The Drukpa lama, Ngagi Wangchuk decedents of Shabdrung Nawang Namgyel - who unified Bhutan founded the first temple - The Chokhor Raptentse Dzong built in this town was the Wangchuck dynasty's seat of power before they became the rulers of Bhutan in 1907 - The dzong in this town is remarkable and is often described as the dragon flying over the mountain peak - Some of the other places that one can see in Trongsa are Ta Dzong, Chendebji Chorten and the Tongsa Dzong Drive further to Bumathang - Check in hotel resort at Bumathang - Evening free to stroll around the area - Night stay at Bumathang.

  • Day 6 : Bumathang

    Morning drives to Bumthang across the Yutongla pass (3400 meters) - Bumthang is also the religious heartland of Bhutan - This town is surrounded by fruit trees and temples - Buddhism is said to have grown in the country through Bhumthang, some of the temples located here include Kuje Lhakhang, Jampey Lhakhang and Jakar Dzong - Some of the prominent festivals held during September are Tamshing Phala and Thangbi Mani- Afternoon visit to Jakar Dzong, Jambay Lhakhang, Kurje Lhakhang and Tamshing Lhakhang Evening free to stroll around the area - Overnight at hotel Bumathang.

  • Day 7 : Punakha

    Its an uphill drive to Trongsa, the centre of the Kingdom and home to the magnificent Trongsa Dzong, the longest Dzong in Bhutan - The first and second kings of Bhutan ruled over the kingdom from Trongsa Dzong - High above the Dzong is an ancient watchtower that has been carefully restored and turned into a museum Next there is a long drive to with three passes to cross to Punakha - Pele La (3390 meters) is an experience by itself Reach Punakha and check into hotel - Evening Market Sightseeing or stroll around the area - Night Stay at Punakha.

  • Day 8 : Paro

    Early morning breakfast - Next visit Ta Dzong, once a watchtower, built to defend Rinpung Dzong during inter-valley wars of the 17th century - Next walk down a hillside trail to visit Rinpung Dzong - Built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal - It is the office of the Dzongda (district administrative head) and Thrimpon (judge) of Paro district - Check into hotel at Paro - Evening free to stroll around the area - Overnight at the hotel in Paro.

  • Day 9 : Paro

    Morning take an excursion to Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger Nest - It is believed that Guru Rinpoche, the father of the Bhutanese strain of Mahayana Buddhism, arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery - Taktsang was severely damaged by fire in year 1998 and now has been restored in its original grandeur - After lunch, visit Ta Dzong, the National Museum - The museum collection includes ancient Bhutanese art and artifacts, weapons and country# s exquisite postage stamps - Then walk down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong situated at commanding height, overlooking Paro valley - This Dzong is symbolic as the religious and secular centre of all affairs of the valley - Evening visit a traditional farm house to get an idea on lifestyle of local people - Overnight at the hotel in Paro.

  • Day 10 : Paro

    After breakfast, drive to Phuentsholing en route - Thimpu Phuentsholing road was built in 1962 by Dantak, the Indian Border road organization - The drive on this route is very pleasant with numerous scenic spots en route - Just before, arriving Phuentsholing, visit Kharbandi Goemba, the monastery built in 1967 - It houses the large and attractive statues of Sakyamuni, Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and Guru Rinpoche Arrive Phuentsholling Evening free to stroll around the area Check into Hotel - Overnight at the hotel in Phuentsholing.

  • Day 11 : Departure

    Early morning breakfast or breakfast on the route Check out of the hotel and start for Phuntsho Chholing (Phuntsholing) Dooars New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) Bagdogra Airport (IXB) Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus (Junction) Siliguri One can stay in Dooars or drive directly to Airport or station - Siliguri is roughly 170 kilometers and is 4 5 hours drive Forwarding journey.
