Landing at Paro International Airport is an unforgettable experience in itself—widely regarded as one of the most scenic and thrilling descents in the world. The moment your feet touch the runway, you’ll begin to feel the unique charm and tranquility of Bhutan.
Our expert guides will greet you warmly outside the airport and provide a brief overview of the day's itinerary. This evening, we’ll take a gentle birdwatching walk along the Pachu River, where you’ll have the chance to observe some of the region’s common river birds. Later, we’ll enjoy a relaxed stroll through Paro town, soaking in its peaceful atmosphere and traditional architecture.
Overnight & Dinner: Rimphu Farm House
We’ll begin the day early with a check-out from the hotel and set off toward the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery. En route, we’ll enjoy a peaceful morning birding session—an ideal time to spot a variety of beautiful species. Birds commonly seen along the trail include the Kalij Pheasant, Darjeeling Woodpecker, Scarlet Minivet, Spotted Nutcracker, Green-backed Tit, Rufous Sibia, Spotted Laughingthrush, White-throated Laughingthrush, Chestnut-crowned Laughingthrush, Green-tailed Sunbird, Grey-headed Tit, Rufous-vented Tit, White-capped Redstart, Snow Pigeon, Blue Whistling Thrush, Oriental Magpie Robin, Oriental Turtle Dove, and Spotted Dove.
Midway through the hike, we’ll stop at a cafeteria offering a breathtaking view of Tiger’s Nest Monastery and enjoy a well-earned breakfast. Afterward, we’ll continue the ascent to visit the magnificent monastery itself—one of Bhutan’s most iconic landmarks and a must-visit destination for travelers from around the world.
Later in the afternoon, we’ll begin our drive to Thimphu. On the way, we’ll stop at one of Bhutan’s oldest suspension bridges, dating back to the 15th century. This area also offers a chance to spot river birds such as the Plumbeous Redstart and Great Cormorant.
Upon arrival in Thimphu in the evening, we’ll check in to our hotel and unwind for the night.
Overnight & Dinner: Phuntsho Khangser Hotel
We’ll begin the day with an early morning hike to Tango Monastery, Bhutan’s oldest Buddhist university, nestled amidst serene forested hills. Along the trail, there’s a wonderful opportunity to spot a variety of fascinating bird species. Some of the highlights may include the Beautiful Nuthatch, Red-billed Leiothrix, White-throated Laughingthrush, White-collared Blackbird, Blue Whistling Thrush, Plumbeous Redstart, Kalij Pheasant, Barred Cuckoo-Dove, Yellow-billed Blue Magpie, Southern Nutcracker, Green-backed Tit, Black Bulbul, Blyth’s Leaf Warbler, Chestnut bellied Nuthatch, Fire-breasted Flowerpecker, Himalayan White-browed Rosefinch, Rufous-billed Woodpecker, Red-billed Chough, Snow Pigeon, Alpine Accentor, Blue-fronted Redstart, Rusty flanked Treecreeper, Scaly Thrush, Yellow-rumped Honeyguide, Rufous-capped Babbler, and the elusive Blood Pheasant, among others.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit the majestic Buddha Dordenma—a towering statue of Shakyamuni Buddha that stands 159 feet tall and is made of bronze and gilded in gold. It’s not only one of the largest Buddha statues in the world but also offers panoramic views over the Thimphu Valley.
Later in the evening, you’ll have free time to explore Thimphu town at your own pace, discovering local shops, cafés, or simply soaking in the atmosphere of Bhutan’s charming capital.
Overnight & Dinner: Phuntsho Khangser Hotel
We’ll begin our journey to Punakha early in the morning. En route, we’ll make a brief stop at Dochula Pass, a scenic spot known for its panoramic views of the Himalayan range—perfect for capturing beautiful morning photographs. After taking group pictures amidst the 108 chortens, we’ll continue our drive toward Lamperi Botanical Park.
At the park, we’ll explore its rich biodiversity and enjoy a birding session in its lush forest surroundings. This area is home to a wide variety of bird species, and you may encounter birds such as the Golden-throated Barbet, Fire-tailed Mizornis, Yellow-bellied Fairy-Fantail, Black Eagle, Green-backed Tit, Whistler’s Warbler, Large-billed Leaf Warbler, Chestnut-crowned Warbler, Whiskered Yuhina, Striated Laughingthrush, Rufous Sibia, White-throated Laughingthrush, Verditer Flycatcher, Speckled Wood Pigeon, Rufous-bellied Woodpecker, Grey backed Shrike, Blue Whistling Thrush, Eurasian Hoopoe, Southern Nutcracker, Large Niltava, White-tailed Nuthatch, Rusty-flanked Treecreeper, Rufous-gorgeted Flycatcher, Mrs. Gould’s Sunbird, White-winged Grosbeak, Red-headed Bullfinch, Black-faced Laughingthrush, Red-tailed Minla, Dark-sided Flycatcher, Chestnut-tailed Minla, Black-browed Tit, Long-tailed Minivet, and many others.
After the breakfast at Lampelri Garden we will start our drive to Punakha Valley. Later we will also visit the Most amazing Punakha Dzong, the impressive of all the fortresses in Bhutan.
In the evening, we will drive to Phochu river side for looking at White-bellied Heron which are in the list of most threatened species of birds in the world. We will also try to see the Great Cormorant, Ruddy Shelducks, Red-wattled River lapwing, Rufescent prinia, Collared Scops-owl, Crested Kingfisher, Crested Bunting, Ibisbill, Ashy Drongo, Scaly-breasted Munia, Asain oel, White
browed Wagtail, Blue-capped Rock-Thrush, White Wagtail, Gadwall etc..
In the eveing, we will try to capture, Pallas Fish Eagle if we are lucky enough. Overnight & Dinner: Zhingkham Resort
We’ll begin our journey early in the morning with a scenic drive toward the beautiful Phobjikha Valley. Our first stop will be at Chuzomsa, a fantastic birding spot where we have a chance to spot the majestic Pallas’s Fish Eagle. Other notable bird species often seen in this area include the Scarlet Minivet, Hen Harrier, Blue-throated Barbet, Golden-throated Barbet, Greater Yellownape, Crested Serpent Eagle, Mountain Hawk-Eagle, White-capped Redstart, Grandala, Red-billed Leiothrix, Green-backed Tit, Striated Laughingthrush, Chestnut-bellied Rock Thrush, Chestnut bellied Nuthatch, Black Drongo, Himalayan Cutia, and Bar-winged Flycatcher-shrike, among others.
Breakfast will be served along the way, amidst the tranquil surroundings.
We’ll then continue our drive, ascending to the Lawala Pass before descending into the breathtaking Phobjikha Valley—Bhutan’s most important winter habitat for the endangered Black necked Cranes. If we’re lucky, we may witness these graceful birds in flight. These cranes migrate from the Tibetan Plateau starting in early November and remain in the valley throughout the winter.
Later, we’ll enjoy a gentle hike along the Gangtey Nature Trail, offering more opportunities to spot birdlife unique to this serene glacial valley.
Overnight & Dinner: Hotel Dewachen
In the morning, we’ll begin with birdwatching in the serene Phobjikha Valley. This region offers excellent opportunities to spot a variety of species including the endangered Black-necked Cranes, Oriental Skylarks, Southern Nutcrackers, Red-billed Choughs, Large-billed Crows, Himalayan Griffons, Little Forktails, White-browed Wagtails, Grey-backed Shrikes, Russet Sparrows, Large Hawk-Cuckoos, Common Cuckoos, Himalayan Prinias, Black Bulbuls, Rufous-breasted Accentors, Whistler’s Warblers, Plumbeous Redstarts, White Wagtails, Yellow-breasted Greenfinches, Himalayan Buzzards, Olive-backed Pipits, and Ruddy Shelducks.
After the morning birding session, we’ll stop for breakfast at Chazam, at the Norbu Yangphel Restaurant.
We’ll then continue our drive towards Bumthang, passing through the historic town of Trongsa. Before reaching Trongsa, we’ll take a brief stop to observe various species of warblers in the forested areas along the route.
Lunch will be enjoyed near the scenic Trongsa Waterfall.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit the impressive Trongsa Dzong, one of Bhutan’s most important and historical fortresses. It continues to serve as an administrative and monastic center, and plays a key role in Bhutanese royal traditions.
Later in the late afternoon, we’ll resume our journey to Bumthang, driving through the picturesque Yotong La Pass.
In the evening, we will check in to our hotel and relax.
Overnight & Dinner: Jakar Village Lodge/ Swiss Guest House
In the morning, after the leisurely breakfast, we will visit Jakar Dzong, which is uniquely looking down the Chamkhar Town. We will also visit the oldest Buddhist temple in Bhutan which marks the history of Buddhism in Bhutan known as Jambay Lhakhang, built in 659 AD by Tibetan King Songtsen Goenpo.
Later in the afternoon, we will walk around the riverbed in search of the new species of Birds alongside the river.
Overnight & Dinner: Jakar Village Lodge/ Swiss Guest House
Early morning, we will start our drive to Phrumsingla National Park, this is where we might see some of the high altitude birds like, Himalayan Monal, Blood Phaseant, Saytr Trogopan, Goldcrest, Hodgson’s Treecreeper, Black-throated Parrotbill, Red-tailed minla, Barred-cuckoo Dove, Pale-blue Flycatcher, Southern Nutcracker, Bar-winged Flycatcher-shrike, Rufescent Prinia, Yellow-rumped Honeyguide, Pygmy Cupwing, Mrs Gould’s Sunbird, Green-tail Sunbird, Bhutan Laughing Thrush, Rusty-cheeked Scimitar Babbler, Wedge-tailed Green Pigeon, Striated Bulbul, Mountain Bulbul, Ward’s Trogon, Hill Partridges, Crimson Sunbird etc.
Later in the evening, we will walk above the Trogon Villa toward the Tsamang Road for observing many species of birds here, including; , Ward’s Trongon, Fire-tailed Myzornis, Greater Yellow nape, Blue-throated Barbet, Golden-throated Barbet, Golden-fronted Leafbird, Sultan Tits, Fire breasted Flowerpecker, Wedge-tailed Green Pigeon, Green Imperial-Pigeon, Greater Yellow nape, Grey-backed Treepie, Crested Serpent Eagle, Scarlet Minivet, Asain Barred Owlet, Spot Bellied Eagle Owl etc..
Overnight & Dinner: Trogon Villa
In the morning, we will walk along the Rechanglu Recreational Park at Lingmethang, there are always a chance of spotting Twany Fish Owl and Pallas Fish Eagle, other birds like; Gray-headed Woodpecker, Greater Necklace Laughingthrush, White-rumped Munia, Himalayan Prinia, Grey Treepie, White-crested Laughingthrush, Scaly-breasted Munia, Blue-bearded Bee-eater, Gray headed Woodpecker, Greater Neckaced Laughingthrush, Rufous Woodpecker, Rufous-necked Laughingthrush, Slaty-blue Flycatcher, Barred Cuckoo-Dove, Scarlet Minivet, Indian Roller, Ashy Woodswallow, Chestnut-tailed Starling, Oriental Turtle Dove, Slender-billed Oriole, Blue capped Rock Thrush, Black-winged Cuckoo shrike, Black-throated Tit, White-tailed Nuthatch, Bhuan Laughingthrush, Rufous Sibia, White-throated Fantail, Chestnut-crowned Warbler, Striated Laughingthrush, Rufous-necked Hornbill, Verditer Flycatcher, Black-throated Sunbird, Black faced Laughingthrush, Fire-tailed Sunbird, Golden-fronted Leafbird, Slaty-belllied Tesia, Chestnut-headed Tesia, Collared Scops-owl etc.
Later after our breakfast we will start our drive to Yangmari Eco Lodge.

In the morning, after our breakfast we will start our drive to Panbang. On the way we will also try to make some stop for watching the birds. In the afternoon session before we reach Panbang, we will try to spot some of the other speices of birds like, Greater Racket-tailed Drongo, Mountain Imperial Pigeon, Great Hornbill, Rufous-necked Hornbill, Common Green-magpie, Black-chinned Yuhina, White-crested Laughingthrush, Blue-eared Barbet, Orange-bellied Leafbird, Speckled Piculet, Maroon Oriole, Lesser Racket-tailed Drongo, Gray Treepie, Red-whiskered Bulbul, Barred Cuckoo Dove, Asain Barrred Owlet, Rock Pigeon, Gray-chinned Minivet, Asain Emerald Dove and many more.
Late evening, we will reach Panbang Jungle Lodge.
Overnight & Dinner: Jungle Lodge
In the morning, we will begin our birding session around the Jungle Lodge in Panbang, an area rich in avian biodiversity. This region is home to numerous bird species, and it's common to encounter flocks of mixed birds throughout the forested areas and riverbanks.

In the afternoon, we will visit The Royal Manas National Park here we might see some wildlife like, Elephant, Water Buffalo, Barking Deers, Wild Pigs etc...
In the morning, we will drive along the Tingtibi roadside, a route known for its rich biodiversity and scenic broad-leaved forests. As we journey through this lush landscape, we’ll take time to observe both wildlife and birdlife. This area is particularly renowned for sightings of the Golden Langur and Capped Langur, two of Bhutan’s most fascinating primates.
