It is a day celebration, celebrated at the courtyard of Gangtey Gompa in Phobjikha valley, Wangdue Phodrang district. The festival is an occasion for the locals to rejoice and celebrate the arrival of the majestic bird, Black Necked Cranes. This festival is partly to create awareness, in protecting and preserving this endangered bird which has become inseparable and a part of people’s daily winter lives. The program is highlighted by the crane dance and other cultural shows performed by the students. The festival is also graced by people from locals, far and nearby districts and at large the enthusiastic visitors from around the globe. It is performed every year on 11th November co-in siding with the birth day of our fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuck.
