Starting from Leh, the trek takes you deep into the Zanskar Gorge, following the traditional winter route once used by locals for trade and communication. Each day presents a mix of walking on solid ice, negotiating icy patches, and witnessing stunning frozen waterfalls and caves.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrival in Leh (3500m)

  Arrival in Leh (3500m) and Mandatory Acclimatization. Fly into Leh and transfer to your hotel. Strict rest is required for acclimatization due to the extreme cold and high altitude to mitigate the risk of AMS. Spend the day hydrating, moving slowly, and preparing all gear, especially specialized winter clothing and trekking boots, for the harsh, challenging environment ahead.

• Day 2 : Leh Local Sightseeing and Gear Check.

  Continue the acclimatization process by visiting local, low-exertion sites like the Leh Palace and the vibrant main market. A mandatory session is held for gear checking, ensuring every participant has adequate protection, including quality thermals, waterproof outer layers, and appropriate footwear for walking on the frozen Zanskar River.

• Day 3 : Drive from Leh to Shingra Koma (approx. 3-4 hours drive, 1-hour walk).

  A long, cold drive takes you to the starting point of the trek, past the Zanskar-Indus confluence, to the road-head. A short trek begins on the Chadar (frozen blanket) of the Zanskar River, walking carefully over the glass-like ice surface to reach the first major campsite at Shingra Koma, where you set up camp in specialized sub-zero tents.

• Day 4 : Trek from Shingra Koma to Tibb Cave (approx. 5-6 hours trek).

  The day involves carefully navigating the frozen river, a unique experience where you walk between towering, cold-desert canyon walls, watching for open water. You pass through stunning ice formations and occasional frozen waterfalls, often using ropes or walking on the river banks if the ice is thin, reaching the warmer Tibb Cave camp.

• Day 5 : Trek from Tibb Cave to Naerak Village/Naerak Pullu (approx. 6-7 hours trek).

  Today brings the most famous sight: the massive, frozen waterfall near Naerak, often a towering column of blue ice. After a photo stop, you continue to the Naerak campsite. This is the deepest point of the canyon, showcasing the raw, extreme beauty of the winter Zanskar region and the traditional route of the Zanskaris.

• Day 6 : Trek from Naerak to Tibb Cave (approx. 6-7 hours trek).

  Begin the return journey, tracing your steps back along the frozen river. The scenery on the return is often entirely different due to changing light and the dynamic nature of the ice. The day is spent carefully walking on the river's Chadar, giving you a final, profound immersion in the silent, immense cold beauty of the Zanskar canyon.

• Day 7 : Trek from Tibb Cave to Shingra Koma and drive to Leh (approx. 5 hours trek, 3 hours drive).

  The final long walk on the ice brings you back to the road-head. From there, a vehicle transfers you directly back to Leh. Check into the hotel, enjoy the warmth, and celebrate the successful completion of the demanding, high-risk, and truly unforgettable Chadar Trek experience.

  After a well-deserved, comfortable final night, check out from the hotel and transfer to the Leh airport for your flight. The views from the airplane window offer a final, spectacular panorama of the snow-covered peaks and the Zanskar region you just traversed on foot.
