Places of Interest: The Ghoom Monastery (8 Kms) - built in Tibetan style, enshrines a statue of the Maitreya Buddha. Tiger Hill (11 Kms) - from here one can view the sunrise over Kanchenjunga and Mount Everest (on a clear morning). Mirik (49 Kms) - is a hill station 1800 Mts. (6000 ft high) with a beautiful lake in the centre. Sandakphu (58 Kms) - is at a height on 3657 Mt. A trekker's paradise. Kurseong (32 Kms) - a charming health resort. Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary (224 Kms) and the Dooars - Trained elephants are available to take visitors around the sanctuary where the rare one horned rhino can be seen. Kalimpong (51 Kms) - another hill resort, is reached by a fascinating journey through tea estates. It is a little bazaar town.
