Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrive in Leh (3500m)

  Arrive in Leh (3500m) and Mandatory Acclimatization. Fly into Leh and transfer to your hotel. Strict rest is required for acclimatization due to the high altitude. Spend the day slowly exploring the local market, ensuring plenty of hydration, and preparing for the high-altitude lake visits starting tomorrow, as proper rest is essential to prevent AMS.

• Day 2 : Leh Local Sightseeing and Hemis Monastery.

  Visit the Shey Palace and the beautifully situated Thiksey Monastery. In the afternoon, drive to Hemis Monastery, one of the largest and wealthiest monasteries in Ladakh, famous for its annual masked dance festival. Use the day to slowly walk around the monasteries and adjust to the altitude before the long drives.

• Day 3 : Drive from Leh to Pangong Tso Lake via Chang La Pass (approx. 6-7 hours).

  Drive over the Chang La Pass (5360m), one of the highest motorable passes in the world. The pass crossing offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks. Descend into the Changthang region, arriving at the mesmerizing Pangong Tso Lake to witness its famous shifting blue hues, where you will camp overnight near the banks.

• Day 4 : Drive from Pangong Tso to Tso Moriri Lake (approx. 7-8 hours).

  Witness the sunrise over Pangong Tso. Embark on the scenic but rugged drive along the remote Changthang Plateau, passing through wetlands and small nomadic settlements. The destination is Tso Moriri, a large, pristine lake in the Rupshu Valley, surrounded by towering peaks, offering a much quieter, deeper high-altitude experience.

• Day 5 : Explore Tso Moriri and drive to Hanle (approx. 4-5 hours).

  Spend the morning enjoying the tranquility and the unique birdlife around Tso Moriri. Drive further into the remote corner of Ladakh to Hanle, a highly restricted area. Visit the Hanle Monastery and the Indian Astronomical Observatory, one of the world's highest optical telescopes, located in one of the darkest, clearest skies.

• Day 6 : Drive from Hanle to Leh via Chumathang (approx. 8-9 hours).

  Begin the return journey to Leh, traversing more of the stark, high-altitude desert. Stop at Chumathang, famous for its natural hot springs, believed to have therapeutic properties. The drive provides final, stunning views of the vast, desolate plains of the Changthang region before arriving back in the capital city of Leh.

• Day 7 : Departure from Leh.

  After a final morning enjoying the comforts of Leh and a traditional Ladakhi breakfast, check out from the hotel. Be transferred to the Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport (IXL) for your onward flight, concluding the adventurous and culturally rich exploration of the high-altitude lakes and valleys of Ladakh.
