Lamayuru to Stok Trek Tour

Meeting and assistance on arrival at International Airport. Transfer to Hotel in New Delhi.

Transfer to Domestic Airport to connect flight to Leh. Meeting and assistance on arrival at Leh Airport and transfer to Hotel. Rest of the day free for acclimatization.

Acclimatization / introductory tour of Shey, Thiksey and Hemis monasteries. Overnight hotel at Leh.

Early morning drive from Leh to Lamayuru. From Lamayuru monastery descent towards the village, cross a stream, ascent across mountain side onto each a small valley, go on and on in the valley till Prinkitila (3720 M). Descent into a gorge arrive at Shilla, cross a bridge continue to the right bank upto Wanla. Now follow Yapola river on the left for 2 Hrs upto PanjiLa after crossing the bridge. Go up the valley, leading off at right angles, after one hour trek leave the valley on the left, to the Hinju.

After crossing the valley of Hinju , leave one more valley on the left and ascent to the pass. Last ascent is steep. Again from the summit of KonzkeLa (4950 M), long descent to pastures, follow the trail on the left bank along the mountainside. Here path gets lost, rather close to the river. There are circular walls. Before Sumda is a block cave, so many good campsites at the edge of the river, but continue walk along the left bank along the mountainside till Sumda.

From the camp, the path is well - marked but difficult until the Tar -La (5250 mts.) Pitch the camp at the base of Tar - La. After crossing the valley for about 1Hr path is difficult to follow until reaching rock shelters. Cross the bridge and ascent DundunchenLa (4800 M). After descending the pass south side, slope is steep and continue towards a valley, which gets narrower and in the end it opens out at Chilling. Upto Chilling, there is not much of water. Chilling is a village of craftsmen, here popular work with metal like copper, tin, silver and make ladles, tchang pots, teapots etc.

From Chilling follow Zanskar river up stream for about 2 hrs then cross it in a cable car, then there is a well defined path, Skaya is 2 Hrs from the river crossing. After some distance from Skaya, the trail joins with the route of Stok - Hemis ( Markha Valley trek). From here Shingo with 2-3 houses is 3 Hrs away.

Ascent to GandaLa (4700 M), it is 2 Hrs easy climb descent into a beautiful valley and after passing Yurutse village, cross the river on right bank, cross an escarpment which leads into the valley of Rumbak Gompa . From Rumbak gompa there is a route joining Spituk monastery no pass in between all easy going.

After by passing this beautiful stopping valley, ascent upto StokLa by very steep, zigzag, difficult footpath by now it is 3 Hrs. Now steep descent to summer pastures of Stok and then easy walk upto Stok, follow the river, which comes from Stok - kangri massif. From Stok drive to Leh which is one hours drive to Leh.

Transfer to Airport, to connect flight to Delhi . Meeting and assistance on arrival at Delhi Airport and transfer to Hotel in Delhi . Day free for sight seeing. Overnight at hotel.
