Hello, adventure lovers! It’s that time of the year again! We know the pandemic has sucked the life out of almost everyone and the fear of a third wave is imminent. And for adventure seekers like us, the lockdowns and travel restrictions have only added more desire to go out in the open and do what we love the most. So keeping everything in mind, we have collaborated with locals for the SEVEN LAKES TREK in Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh so that you get to experience nature in its rawest form. We bet you have never experienced anything of this sort, at least in Northeast India.

This trek will start from the quaint village of Imungu at Anini, Arunachal Pradesh, and will introduce you to Himalaya’s best kept secret- the seven spectacular high altitude lakes lying peacefully in the hills of Dibang Valley. You’ll be trekking at a breathtaking elevation of almost 4000 metres above sea level, climbing either uphill or downhill and accompanied by experienced guides at all times. The best part is since it is a relatively new trek, you are destined to find new trails, venture into uncharted territories, discover a wide variety of flowers and herbs, fresh water streams, and probably you’ll pave paths for other adventure seekers as you, all while experiencing Mother Nature at its finest.

There has been trial since 2016 for completing 7 lakes. Recent attempt was made in 2016,2017,2018,2019 but all have failed due to lack of proper camps and trekkers who had no experience of trekking. Our team can sure you that we will make all arrangements in Rekee in the month of april. Camp 1 and 2 is ready. Camp 3 will be upgraded this June.

Rule-1 and the only rule: whenever we trek in such interior locations we need to Respect the god of nature, Idu Mishmi Tribal Laws and customs then trekking goes fine. Trust me Rule number 1 is the most important rule.

What not to expect in this trekking- Easy! Yes it won’t be easy but i will assure you that our whole team will assist in every way possible. As this is an untouched area so chai and momo stop won't be available. Our whole team will go together. Our cook will try to cook food as good as possible but please don’t expect a superb chef, because the chef cant goes trekking. Apart from this we will take you to jaw-dropping trekking. The landscape will change every day. First day is grassland, 2nd day is rain forest, 3rd-day vegetation change, and then rocky mountains lake1, 4th-day waterfall, lakes, and Base camp. The sense of completing the whole 7 lakes will be an achievement.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival

This is the first day of our journey. We shall pick you from Dibrugarh airport or Railway station. Reach the pickup location before 10 AM. Dibrugarh to Roing is approximately 150 Km distance and will take around 3-4 hours to reach. We shall stay overnight in Roing.

Day 2 : Anini

This will be a long journey and we shall start at 7 AM to Anini. The journey is through beautiful mountains and breathtaking views. We shall cross Mayudia pass. It will be evening when we reach Anini. We shall check in to a hotel and overnight stay in Anini.

Day 3 : Anini

We need this day to prepare for the trek and also need some rest. We may have to buy some stuff from the local market in Anini as suggested by the local guide. A list of items required is given below. Also, the local guide will explain the safety and route of the trek. We shall also enjoy some Arunachali local food in Anini.

Day 4 : Emuli Grassland

We will leave from Anini at 6 am to Emuli Grassland where the expedition starts. The bolero pickup truck will be used. It will take about 4hr 30min to reach the Aniku top Campsite.
Note:
Firewoods are available. But no water on top. Water is 20min away which will be arranged by local guides.
There are black flies that protect the forest from human invasion. Locals call it- Damdum/Kamu (in idu Mishmi dialect). We shall use ODOMOS or else Dettol. Dettol is very effective. We recommend using of light cloth mask which protects the face.
We shall use boiled water to prevent any kind of stomach problems.
Altitude -9000ft

Day 5 : Rain forest and thin bamboo jungles

Day 5 is walking through the Rain forest and thin bamboo jungles. The camping site is at 11000ft and a bit slumpy in between the Jungle. It is like a small area in between jungle with a small stream for a water source. Rest in Camp-2 (Kichar camp).

Day 6 : kahu wu~ya Lake.

On day 6 we shall leave at 7 am and reach by 2 pm to our first lake named kahu wu~ya Lake. One can’t express how beautiful this place is. The Lake is surrounded by yellow, purple, white flowers and a beautiful tiny water stream. The route to the lake is a bit sloppy and through rocky hills. This lake is at an altitude of 12600ft.

Day 7 : Emuh~ya lake - Altitude 12900ft

We shall leave by 7:30 am towards the main Base camp and lake 2 (Emuh~ya lake - Altitude 12900ft) and reach around 11 am. The route is through rocky mountains. After reaching we have to climb another 30 minutes to the top for the breathtaking view of the lake. This is the main base camp and we shall go to all other remaining Lakes from here. Take rest in the camp.

Day 8 : we shall visit the remaining lakes

Today we shall visit the remaining lakes. we shall go to explore Lake 3 (Koyombo wuya). It is the smallest lake but you will be surprised to see Elephant and Monkey head. After that we shall go to see Lake 4( Dini Lake). This one is the most beautiful and largest of all. The beauty of this lake can’t be justified with few photographs. Lake 5 Che~ne Lake is said to be a mystical Lake and many local hunters say, they have seen this lake glowing during midnight. Lake 6 and 7 ( HUHU lakes) are almost near to each other. Today ends our last lake exploration.

Day 9 : returning day

Today is the returning day. Rest in base camp Altitude -12900ft.

Day 11 : Anini

Finally, we shall reach Anini today where we shall check in to a hotel. Take a good shower in hot water and some delicious food after 8 Days in Jungle.

Today Morning we shall return back to Roing and stay overnight in a beautiful and cosy homestay.

The morning we shall drop you at Dibrugarh airport and the trip will end here.
