Stok Kangri is one of Peaks in Ladakh which you can summit without prior much experience in Mountaineering. It is not technical and hence easier except the height and acclimatization which is must before such expeditions/summits. This Itinerary is perfectly suited to for successfully summiting the Peak. Markha Valley is one of the most popular trekking destinations in Ladakh and perfect trek to experience before Stok Kangri summit.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Leh to Chilling - Sku (3500 M) in 5 Hours:

  After Breakfast Drive to Chilling 2 Hrs. Cross the Zanskar River By a Trolley and Trek to Kaya / Skyu Village, the First Village Along the Markha Valley Route. Camp At Kaya / Skyu

• Day 2 : Kaya/ Skyu - Markha (3850 M) in 7 Hours:

  The Day’s Trek is Relatively Easy, But, Longest in Terms of Arial Distance and It Involves Crisscrossing the Stream At Numerous Points Depending On the Water Level. The Trek Route Name as It is Obvious is Derived from the Name of this Village. The Village Has Small Monastery and An Ancient Fort.
• Day 3 : Markha - Hankar (4000 M) in 4 Hrs:

  Steeper Climb During the Trek as the Day’s Trek is Slow Accent Towards Kangyatse Base Area. Many Cultural Sites are Spread Along this Route. After the Umlung Monastery, the Valley Narrows and We Stop to Camp At the Foot of Kang Yaste (6400 M).

• Day 4 : Hankar - Nimaling (4650 m) in 4 hrs:

  Trek in the valley in direction of Zalung Karpo and Rupshu. We pass through Thagshungtse high altitude pasture land and start our gradual ascent towards one of the most wonderful high valleys of Ladakh - The Nimaling Pasture Land Camping site.

• Day 5 : Nimaling - Kongmaru La (5150 m)- Chogdo (4000 m) in 7 hrs:

  Climb up to the summer pastures of Nimaling, used by the shepherds of Hankar and Markha villagers and follow the hedge to the top. The Kongmaru La pass (5150 m) commands beautiful views of the surrounding valleys including the Kang Yatze north face (6400 m), the Ladakh ranges and the Indus valley.

• Day 6 : Chogdo - rGyuncho La (4600 m) - Camp at 4350 m in 6- 7 hrs:

  The Trek Route Deviates from the Traditional Markha Valley Trek and We Follow a Less Travelled Trekking Route Towards the West to Further Reach Stok Base Camp in In the Coming Days. a Long and Gradual Ascent Leads Us to the Rgyuncho La. Camp After Passing the Pass.

• Day 7 : Gyuncho La Camp at 4350 m - Shang La (4800 m)- Matho Phu (4350 m) in 6 hrs:

  Trek Further Towards West, Crossing Few Passes and Shang La and Decent to the Camping Site Crossing Tokpo Stream to Matho Phu.

• Day 8 : Matho Phu - Matho La (4820 m) - Stok Kangri Base Camp (4700 m) in 5 hrs:

  Trek towards Stok Base crossing a pass and later descend steadily along the stream till a spectacular view of the Stok Peak engulfs you. Camp
• Day 10 : Summit day (Approx. 8-9 hours to base-camp).

  Initial Part the Climb Requires Negotiating Loose Screes and Bouldered Slopes, and Then Leads to Easy Angled Snow Slopes, Which Require Ice Axe and Crampons. the Route is Not Difficult But At this Altitude, Makes Every Step Strenuous. from the Summit of Stok Kangri (6150 M), One Can See and Enjoy the View as Far as the Karakoram, the Pamirs and Tibet. After Hoisting Prayer Flags On the Top of the Stok Peak, Return to Base Camp.
• Day 11 : Stok Kangri Base Camp - Leh (5 h walk to Stok).

  Trek Downhill and Through Wild Gorge Scenery Till You Reach Stok. Visit Stok Palace and Museum and Drive to Leh. Evening Get Together Party with Staff Members At One of the Restaurants At Leh .
