Diu is a quaint town in the Indian union territory of Daman & Diu. This small town was established by an Indian ruler but developed on the arrival of the British. At present, it stands amid the least populated districts in India. Many battles were fought between the invaders like the Portuguese, Turkish and Egyptians to rule over Diu but all were defeated by the Indian Emperor Bahadur Shah of Gujarat.
With a meager area of 40 sq. km. Diu perches on the shoreline of Arabian Sea. The land of Diu matches the sea level and has a humid climate. The average temperature in summers rests at 36° C and winters here last only for namesake. Diu gets sufficient amount of rainfall in the monsoon with an average of 1500 mm annually.
Diu, as a whole, is a tantalizing tourist destination. The tourists on a large scale flock to this place to spend a relaxing vacation. The Diu fortress and Portuguese Cathedral are the prime names in the list of attractions. The people can see the Portuguese architecture in the vicinity of Diu.
