The Rongai Route is the only route approaching Kilimanjaro from the north, near the Kenyan border. It offers a unique perspective of the mountain and is the best option during the rainy season as the north side receives less precipitation. Rongai is one of the less crowded routes, making it ideal for those seeking a quieter climbing experience. The trail passes through wilderness areas rarely seen by other climbers. The route has a gradual ascent profile which, combined with its relative dryness, makes it one of the more comfortable climbing options. It descends via the Marangu Route, giving you two different perspectives of the mountain.
