Assam and Arunachal Pradesh bird watching tour

On arrival meet our tour manager. We pick you up from Guwahati airport/ railway station and leave for Nameri. Since Guwahati is the entry point of Northeast India, we start our tour with a drive to Nameri National Park on the first day. It’s a 6 hrs. journey.

On arrival check-in at an eco camp and feel oneness with nature. Night stay at Nameri.

Next day early morning we go for bird watching in the dense forest of Nameri National Park. We walk through the small alleys inside the forest and observe various birds like White Winged Wood duck, Great Pied Hornbill, Black stork, Lbisbill, Babblers, Plovers and other animals like Capped Langur, Barking Deer etc. native to Nameri.

River rafting on Jiabharali River is an added advantage in Nameri.

Later we have lunch at the eco camp and drive to Kaziranga which is a 3 hrs drive. On arrival, check at a resort/ lodge in Kaziranga. Night stay in Kaziranga.

Kaziranga is one of the vast National Parks in the Northeast region. Today we start our tour inside Kaziranga in an open Jeep. Since walking inside the park is not allowed, we traverse the jungle by a vehicle and spot large no of local and migratory birds and animals like wild Elephant, One Horned Rhino, Hog Dear, Wild Buffalo, Wild Boar etc. Today we explore the central range and eastern range of the park. In between we also visit Kaziranga Orchid Park and tea gardens.

Today we will drive to Majuli Island from Kaziranga National Park. It takes around 4 hrs to reach Majuli. Enroute we will cross mighty river Brahmaputra on a ferry which is 1.5 hr. ride. On arrival at Majuli island, check in at a traditional bamboo cottage. In the afternoon we will go out for a birding tour in Majuli.

Majuli is the safe harbor for many rare and endangered avifauna species. Lakes and water bodies of the island are suitable eco system for large number of migratory birds like greater adjutant stork, pelican, Siberian crane etc.

Today we explore top Neo Vaishnavite monasteries (Satras) and return to Jorhat and then to Dibru Saikhowa National park which is about 5 hrs. drive.
On reaching Dibru-Saikhowa, check in at a houseboat/resort. In the evening we will take you to a river island and enjoy bonfire and snacks.

Dibru Saikhowa National Park is like a delta surrounded by Brahmaputra river and Lohit Rivers in the north and Dibru river in south. Today we uncover the majestic avifauna varieties of Dibru-Saikhowa on a country boat via canal and watch Kekjori Tree, forest village, wildlife, and large number of mammals and birds like Gangetic dolphin, slow loris, pig tailed macaque, Assamese macaque, greater adjutant, ferruginous pochard, Jerdon's babbler, black-breasted parrotbill etc.
Overnight stay at houseboat/resort in Dibru Saikhowa.

Today we discover another evergreen forest of Assam Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary. We take you through the Namsang trail which passes through the tea garden of Namsang. On reaching Dehing Patkai check in at a resort. We will go for a track inside the dense forest of Dehing Patkai in the afternoon.
Night stay in a lodge/ resort near Dehing Patkai.

Today we will go to explore the one of the largest evergreen rainforests in the world Namdapha National Park. Early morning after breakfast drive to Namdapha National Park which is a 180 km drive ( 4-5 hrs). On reaching Miao check in at a resort or a camp close to the jungle and take rest for the day.

Morning after breakfast go for full day trekking inside the park. It is exposed only by foot. We take you to 1 day trip in the park. You can also consider 4 days trekking inside the park to discover large varieties of animals and birds.
Namdapha is the safe shelter for many indigenous species of flora and fauna which include flying squirrel, leopard, Bear, Indian wolf , Indian elephant, Wild boar, Musk Deer, Indian Muntjac, Stump-tailed Macaque, Slow loris, Hoolock Gibbon, Hornbill, Green cochoa, Kingfisher, White-tailed fish eagle etc. It also houses a large no of butterflies.

Today is the last day of our birding tour in Northeast India. After breakfast we bid adieu to the park and return to Dibrugarh airport/railway station at around 10 AM.
