Arrival in Ballari – Hampi (61 kms / approx. 2 hours)
Meet our representative upon arrival in Bellari and proceed to Hampi. A UNESCO World Heritage Site on the south bank of the Tungabhadra River, Hampi boasts the evocative ruins of the 14th century imperial capital of Vijayanagar or the “City of Victory”, a time when art and architecture flourished. It was the capital of three generations of Hindu rulers for more than 200 years. The city was conquered by Sultanate troops in CE 1565, pillaged for six months, and abandoned. The site, which comprises the Sacred and Royal Centres, has a superb location, with rocky ridges and granite boulders acting as natural defences. The urban core of the city was fortified and separated from the Sacred Centre by an irrigated valley, through which ancient canals and waterways still run. Upon arrival check-in to hotel, free for leisure and overnight in Hampi.
