A 7 day guided climb of Mount Kilimanjaro starting and ending in Arusha. The itinerary includes transfer from Arusha to Londorossi Gate, trekking through rainforest and the Shira Plateau, ascent past Lava Tower with an important acclimatization day, climbing the Barranco Wall, continuing to Barafu Camp as base for the summit attempt, a midnight summit to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 m with sunrise views, descent to Mweka Gate and return drive to Arusha. Driving and hiking times are provided for each day. The package includes park fees, professional English speaking mountain guide, assistant guides, porters and cook, camping equipment, all meals during the climb, drinking water, rescue fees and a summit certificate.
Your adventure begins with an early morning pick up from your hotel in Arusha. You will drive to Londorossi Gate for registration before starting the trek through the lush rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp. Expect driving time of 4 to 5 hours and hiking time of about 3 to 4 hours. Meals provided include lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Mti Mkubwa Camp.
After breakfast continue hiking through the heath and moorland zone while enjoying spectacular views of the Shira Plateau. Hiking time is approximately 5 to 6 hours. Meals provided are breakfast, lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Shira 1 Camp.
The trek this day is shorter to allow acclimatization to increasing altitude while crossing the picturesque Shira Plateau. Hiking time is around 4 to 5 hours. Meals provided are breakfast, lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Shira 2 Camp.
Climb gradually to Lava Tower before descending to Barranco Camp. This is an important acclimatization day that greatly improves chances of reaching the summit. Hiking time for the day is about 6 to 8 hours. Meals provided are breakfast, lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Barranco Camp.
Climb the famous Barranco Wall before trekking through valleys and ridges to Karanga Camp. Hiking time is approximately 4 to 5 hours. Meals provided are breakfast, lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Karanga Camp.
Continue to Barafu Camp which serves as the base camp for the summit attempt. After an early dinner rest and prepare for the midnight climb. Hiking time is about 3 to 4 hours. Meals provided are breakfast, lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Barafu Camp.
Start the summit attempt shortly after midnight and aim to reach Uhuru Peak at 5,895 m to experience the unforgettable sunrise. After summiting descend to Mweka Gate where you will receive your summit certificate before driving back to Arusha. Total hiking time for summit day and descent is approximately 10 to 14 hours. Meals provided are breakfast and lunch.
