Stok Kangri Peak Package

Arrive in Leh in the morning and transfer to our guest house. We will keep these two days for getting ready for climb, checking our climbing gears and acclimatization doing walks around the Leh. Optional jeep ride to Khardungla top for acclimatization.

Drive 1 hr to Stok village and trek start to Mankarmo camp. As this will be our first day of climb, we will walk slow and enjoy the magnificent landscape of Ladakh. Overnight camping.

As we start from Mankarmo there is a steep ascent to reach the base camp for Stok kangri. This is a moderate hike and will give you enough time to relax at the camp and get ready for the summit day. On arrival we will set campsite for overnight stay. Overnight camping.

On this day we will climb the ridge on top of the base camp. This is a short and steep climb and will help us getting acclimatized. Return to base camp for hot lunch, rest of the day we relax at the campsite. We will have an early dinner and go to bed as we need to wake up at around midnight for our final climb. Camping.

Our long day will start just after midnight (01 am) from the base camp with our head lamps showing us the route for a couple of hours till the down. From the base camp there is a steep climb to the ridge just above the camp and we will get our rhythm for the climb to come. As we pass through the ridge we cross glacier which we negotiate carefully and we will find the permanent snow line with steep icy slope of Stok kangri peak. The final ridge with rocky section will lead us to the summit. July and August there is lesser snow making the climb easier relatively to its earlier May-June. As we reach on the top of Stok Kangri peak (6153m) we see all around us many snowy glaciers and high mountains. The summit rewards us with wide open views of the Karakoram and Ladakh range on the north, and the Zanskar range towards south- west side. We also see the bird's eye view of the Indus valley and the Leh city. Enjoy the feeling of having achieved a difficult task of climbing a 6000m+ peak and take a few pictures before climbing down to the base camp.
