Package Overview

This itinerary is for the adventurous traveler, taking you through the rugged and majestic landscapes of Arunachal Pradesh. Note that permits (ILP for Indian citizens, PAP for foreigners) are required.

Base: Dirang (1 night) and Tawang (3 nights).

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrival & Transfer to Dirang

  Arrive at Guwahati Airport (GAU) and transfer to Dirang (approx. 8-9 hours). The drive is long but incredibly scenic, taking you through Bhalukpong (where you get your permit verified) and the picturesque Kameng River valley.
  
  Check in to your hotel and relax.

• Day 2 : Dirang to Tawang via Sela Pass

  After an early breakfast, begin your drive to Tawang.
  
  The highlight of the day is crossing Sela Pass, a high-altitude pass at 13,700 feet, which is often snow-covered.
  
  Visit the Sela Lake and Jaswant Garh War Memorial, a poignant tribute to a brave soldier of the 1962 Sino-Indian War.
  
  Arrive in Tawang by late afternoon and check into your hotel.

• Day 3 : Tawang Sightseeing

  Explore Tawang's key attractions.
  
  Visit the magnificent Tawang Monastery, the largest monastery in India and the second largest in the world.
  
  Explore the Tawang War Memorial, which recounts the stories of the war heroes.
  
  Visit the serene Urgelling Monastery, the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama.

• Day 4 : Bum La Pass Excursion

  Take a day trip to the scenic Bum La Pass, the Indo-China border (requires a separate permit).
  
  On the way, visit the beautiful Madhuri Lake (Sangetsar Lake), a stunning lake surrounded by snow-covered peaks.
  
  Return to Tawang in the evening.

• Day 5 : Departure

  Start your journey back to Guwahati early in the morning for your flight. The drive is long, so plan accordingly.
