Jhelum River doesn’t require an introduction. It is a river that flows through the state of Jammu-Kashmir and has various tributaries. Its original name is Vitatsa and according to the Hindu mythology, this river is the form of Goddess Parvati. It is said that Sage Kasyapa worshiped her to please her and purify the land of Kashmir by terminating the existence of the demons in the valley. She originated from Verinaga Spring as Vitatsa for the purification of Kashmir Valley.

4) The waters of Jhelum River are used for the generation of the hydro-electricity that has reduced the shortage of power supply in the rural areas.
5) Visitors can take delight in the activities of swimming and boating. Picnicking near the river is a great option.
