Diengiei Peak

Diengiei Peak is a renowned tourist attraction in Shillong, Meghalaya. This beauteous peak lies on the western side of Shillong and has a huge altitude of 6200 feet above the sea level. Due to such height, Diengiei Peak is known as the second highest peak in the state. It is just 200 feet shorter than Shillong Peak. The visual appeal of this mountain range makes it an excellent tourist site that is visited by people on a huge scale.

1) Diengiei Peak is known for its beautiful landscape. As the sun rises, the white peaks turn into golden color because the rays of the sun fall on them and enhance their beauty.

2) The summit of this peak offers a breathtaking view of the East Khasi Hills and the entire nearby rural areas.

3) Umiam Lake is also visible from the peak of Diengiei.

4) Apart from its natural beauty, this peak is famous for rock climbing and trekking.

During the extreme temperatures in winters, the cotton-white layer of snow decorates the peak and enhances its beauty.

Reaching There:-

The mountainous region of Diengiei is well-connected via major highway of the state. However, the best mode for reaching this peak is by a jeep or taxi and then relishing an exciting trek to its peak.
