5-day African Safari Tour Wilderness Adventure

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will complete customs and immigration formalities and be welcomed by your professional safari guide who will assist with luggage and provide an introduction to the safari. You will then take a scenic transfer to Arusha, passing coffee and banana plantations, rural farms, traditional villages and, on clear days, distant views of Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro foothills. Short stops can be made for photography or rest. On arrival in Arusha you will check in at your lodge and later receive a detailed safari briefing covering the itinerary, park visits and essential travel information to prepare you for the following days.

Travel to Tarangire National Park, renowned for its large elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. The park is centered on the Tarangire River, the only permanent water source in the area, which attracts large concentrations of wildlife during the dry season. Expect exceptional wildlife viewing, including gatherings of elephants and a wide variety of other species, set against the striking landscape dominated by baobab trees. Overnight stay is at accommodation near the park.

After breakfast in Karatu depart with your guide for a full day at Lake Manyara National Park at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Begin a game drive across varied habitats including forest, grassland and the lakeshore, searching for elephants, giraffes, baboons, buffalo, hippos, many bird species and the park famous tree climbing lions. In the afternoon exit the park and continue to Mto wa Mbu for a cultural tour where you will experience local Tanzanian life, visiting farms and markets and learning about traditional food and culture, before returning to your lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight.

Visit the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, best known for the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest unbroken volcanic caldera which supports a dense concentration of wildlife within a 600 meter deep natural bowl. The crater floor features grasslands, swamps, lakes and acacia forests and is home to the Big Five plus zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, hippos and many bird species. This setting offers reliable game viewing in a single day and provides a unique opportunity to observe a complete ecosystem and wildlife that coexist alongside local Maasai communities.

On the final day relax at the lodge depending on your flight time, then transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your outbound international flight home. There is also the option to extend your holiday by adding a few days to visit Tanzanian islands such as Zanzibar, Pemba or Mafia if you wish to continue your trip.
