Situated some 5 kilometers South of Nuwara Eliya, the road to Hakgala along the Badulla road is a pleasant downhill drive, mostly through pine forests. Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel today before we set off. We’re heading out to enjoy nature that is Ella, which means waterfall in Sri Lankan language. And you can rest assured that this town truly lives up to this name with the number of waterfalls that you can find around here. It’s popular for the Nine Arches Bridge, Little Adam’s Peak, and Ravana’s Cave. We’re going to visit several of these highlights, starting with the Ravana Falls, an 82-feet/25m waterfall that cascades from a rock outcrop. It is one of the widest waterfalls in Sri Lanka and is located within the Ravana Ella Wildlife Sanctuary, just 6km from the Ella Railway Station. Legend has it that Princess Sita was hidden in the Ravana Ella Cave located behind the waterfall when Ravana kidnapped her. The pool formed by the waterfall is also said to be where Rama’s queen bathed. From the cave, we’ll head to Dhowa Cave Temple, a heritage rock temple of Sri Lanka. Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel in Nuwara Eliya before we check-out. Today, we are going to Bentota and upon arrival, head straight to the hotel for check-in. Leave your luggage here and rest for a little before we proceed to the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery. Since 1981, the area has become one of the best locations to find turtles laying their eggs and it was established by the Wildlife Protection Society. The project will take in newborn turtles and raise them in big tanks with nutritional food and clean environment for just a few days. They’ll then be released into the wild at night from the safest area to ensure survivability. The Conservation generally has five species they take care of, and visitors will learn all about these gorgeous turtles that are now endangered. They are also allowed to interact with the turtles and hold them in their palms and check out the babies in their tanks.Once we’re done, we’ll then head back to the hotel for an overnight stay in Bentota. Today we’ll be heading out of Galle in the early morning. We don’t want to miss the once-in-a-lifetime view in Galle which is located in the south-western part of the island. We start our city tour in Galle upon arriving. The Galle Fort is the highlight of the tour, a historical structure that was constructed during the Dutch colonial era. The Fort was finished in 1663 and stood as a fortress that’s well-known for the European architecture mixed with Sri Lankan influence. It earned the World Heritage Site title in 1988. The Galle National Museum is another destination you shouldn’t miss out. There are displays of many artefacts made of ebony, tortoise shell, and old wood. Many left behind by owners and makers long gone. Later we will be heading out to Hikkaduwa, a small town located in the southern coast. This beautiful coastal town has gorgeous lines of reefs and restaurants line up on shore. We’ll visit the Hikkaduwa Beach and just take in the view of the turquoise water. You should try snorkeling here while you get the chance and maybe even a little bit of windsurfing. When you get closer to the beach, you’ll see several shacks and stores to enjoy local delicacies. We start our Colombo City Tour immediately upon arrival with a visit to the iconic Independence Square located within the Cinnamon Gardens. It is also where the Independence Memorial Museum is built to commemorate the independence of Sri Lanka in 1948. The Hall is located in the heart of the museum and is used for ceremonial purposes. It’s impressively known for the architectural feats with intricately carved lion statues, pillars, and columns that has Sri Lankan design on them. The square is now a popular place to just hang out and stay cool around the fountains while enjoying the greenery after a quick shop at the arcade within the colonial government buildings. You do need to pay attention to the car itineraries and ensure that it passes by this attraction. The World Trade Centre Towers of Colombo are another buildings worth visiting.
