Welcome to Bhutan! After clearing immigration formalities at Phuntsholing, you’ll meet your local guide and driver. Begin your scenic drive to Thimphu — Bhutan’s capital nestled in a highland valley surrounded by pine-covered mountains.
En Route Highlights:
Tropical to Alpine Transition: Observe a dramatic change in vegetation—from warm foothills to cool highlands.
Rural Bhutanese Villages: Glimpses of village life, prayer flags, and river valleys.
Chuzom Confluence: A sacred meeting point of Thimphu and Paro rivers, adorned with Bhutanese, Tibetan, and Nepali chortens.
Evening in Thimphu:
Orientation walk at Clock Tower Square
Visit local handicraft stores and taste your first Bhutanese tea.

Memorial Chorten
Built in honor of the Third King; an important religious site where locals pray and walk clockwise.
Motithang Takin Preserve
Home to Bhutan’s national animal, the Takin – a unique goat-antelope found only in the Himalayas.
Buddha Dordenma
A 51-meter bronze statue of Buddha overlooking the valley; inside are 125,000 smaller Buddhas.

Tashichho Dzong (Outer View)

108 Druk Wangyal chortens stand in honor of Bhutanese soldiers.

In Punakha – Valley of Fertility:
Punakha Dzong
The "Palace of Great Bliss", built at the confluence of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. A masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture.
Chimi Lhakhang
A temple dedicated to Drukpa Kunley, the Divine Madman. Couples from across the world visit to receive fertility blessings. Reach via a short hike through rice paddies.
Punakha Suspension Bridge
One of Bhutan’s longest suspension bridges, offering amazing views of the river and hills.
Optional: Visit local farmhouse for Bhutanese butter tea and snacks.

Drive Back via Scenic Route:

Optional visit to Simtokha Dzong – Bhutan’s oldest dzong (1629), now a monastic college.
Afternoon – Paro Sightseeing:
Rinpung Dzong (Fortress of the Heap of Jewels)
A stunning dzong known for intricate woodwork and the annual Paro Tsechu festival.
Ta Dzong (National Museum)
A former watchtower that now houses ancient thangka paintings, weapons, and rare artifacts.
Paro Town
Enjoy free time at local cafes, markets, and art galleries.
Evening Option: Try a traditional hot stone bath – a relaxing Bhutanese wellness ritual. Overnight: Paro

Hike Duration: Approx. 5–6 hours round trip
Highlight of the Tour:
After breakfast, set off to hike Bhutan’s most sacred site – Taktsang Monastery, perched dramatically on a 900m cliff above the valley.
Believed to be the meditation site of Guru Rinpoche, who flew here on a tigress in the 8th century.
Stop midway at the cafeteria viewpoint for tea and fantastic photos.
Afternoon:
Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Bhutan (7th century). Evening:
Farewell dinner with traditional Bhutanese dishes at a local restaurant or hotel. Overnight: Paro
