Panavally

The beautiful village Panavally, situated in the state of Kerala in the southern part of the Indian subcontinent, is an outstanding way to enjoy the life far away from the big cities. Panavally village is located in the northern end of the Alappuzha district of Kerala. The land of Panavally village is surrounded by Vembanad, the longest lake in India, famous for its houseboat rides in Vembanad backwaters.

Nalpathaneeswaram Sree Mahadeva Temple in the village is an old Hindu temple with admirable traditional Kerala architecture. The temple is dedicated to the Kirtha Bhava of Lord Shiva. The temple festivities include the celebration of Maha Shivaratri sometime during the months of February and March. If lucky, one might even get a chance to see one of the many Kathakali or traditional art performances that are organized here all year long.The temple radiates a typical village vibes and generally has a calm atmosphere.

Many other temples, like the Trichattukulam Mahadevar temple, Vazatharaveli sree annapoorneswary temple, Odampally temple, Manamkuruchi Muslim Palli are major religious centers.

There are great hotels in and around the village with a great view of the village and the lake. People often prefer spending time as staying in the houseboats a couple of days.

Best time to visit the village:

Kerala is a hot and humid place because of its location. Thought the summers are warm and sticky, the winters are pleasant and a nice time to enjoy the trip. Even the monsoons are pretty. If you do visit during monsoons, pack along an umbrella and a raincoat. The beauty of Kerala maintains it is magnificence all year long, and that of course makes it a place you can visit anytime of the year.

The village is about 50 kilometers away from the nearest airport that is the Cochin International airport. The nearest railway station will be Ezhupunna Railway Station which is about 15 kilometers in distance with the village. Local transportation like taxis, autos or buses are available at both the airport and the railway station.
