Kareri Lake

Kareri Lake is a must-visit travel destination in Kangra Valley. Situated amidst the Himalayan ranges, it is a beautiful freshwater lake situated at a height of 2,934 meters above the sea level. It remains frozen for a major portion of the year and emerges when the snow of the Dhauladhar Ranges melt. Thus, the source of this river’s water is the Dhauladhar Mountains. It is surrounded by the enchanting green surroundings that add more charm to it.

1)    There are pasturelands around Kareri Lake in surfeit. The local Gaddi villagers bring their cattle near this lake for grazing.

2)    This freshwater lake is shallow and has crystal clear waters. Such clarity makes the lake bed visible from a height as well.

3)    The waters of this lake freeze during winters and it becomes the site for the famous Kareri Lake Trek.

4)    During the early hours of summer, the view of the misty peaks and glinting river is simply spellbinding.
