Lake Naivasha is the busiest and highest of Kenya's Rift Valley lakes. The lake has a fascinating history, as a weekend escape for the wealthy during the colonial era. These days, it serves a similar purpose for a refreshingly diverse cross-section of Kenyan society. There is lots to do along the southern shore, and keep an eye out for hippos, zebras and giraffes. You'll be visiting Lake Nakuru National Park, and it's a brilliant park to visit. There are so many highlights to look forward to. When it comes to wildlife, there are tree-climbing lions, endangered Rothschild's giraffes, and flamingos in varying numbers on the lake. This is also one of the best parks in Kenya for seeing both black and white rhinos. It's a beautiful park as well, with amazing views from the Out of Africa Lookout (some scenes from the 1985 film of the same name were filmed here), as well as waterfalls, acacia woodlands and pretty lake panoramas. Evening Game Drive, Lake Nakuru National Park Going on an evening game drive is one of the highlights of any safari. This is when temperatures cool, the light becomes softer and the wildlife begins to get active. Not only will you be out when the light is best for taking photos, but it's also one of the best times of day for seeing the animals.
