Murphy Beach also known as Kumini Beach was developed in the year 1970 by the Molokai Jaycees. It was developed so as to create a small park for children, where they can swim and enjoy their picnics. Earlier the beach was a dump but the Jaycees cleaned it and installed some picnic tables, barbecue grills etc. In this way, Murphy Beach came into existence. The beach is fully lined with large number of palm trees that make it one of the most attractive beaches in Molokai. The coast is well protected by various reefs, which makes it an ideal destination for swimming, snorkeling or wading. Its sandy beach is covered with various rocks. Accessing Murphy Beach is one of the most easily accessible beaches in the world. People come here with flights, railways and many others. The means of transportations are easily available and do not cost much from the beach or to the beach.
