Food of Mizoram Mizoram is the land of many indigenous but delicious cuisines. The main attraction for the tourists in the state is its non vegetable delicacies like meat which is an indispensable part of Mizo people’s food habit. Though people do eat vegetables here but a small ting of non vegetarian food is generally must. The food of Mizoram is somewhat different from the other part of the country. However it strikes resemblance with the other food of northeastern states of India.
The local of the state do not like spicy foods so their preparations are quite simple. The staple food of the state is chiefly rice. People here the gourmet combination of boiled rice and fish. Mustered oil is the main cooking medium here. The bamboo shoots form the main ingredient of the vegetarian foods. Some of the most famous foods items of the state are Misa Mach Poora, Panch Phoron Taarkari. They are basically prepared by the grilling of shrimps, dal with eggs Poora Mach and Koat Pitha. No dinner is complete without the sipping of locally made wines here. Both the males and females of the state enjoy the native wine. Another popular drink of Mizoram is Zu which is the popular form of tea relished by all age group.
