About Punjab:  Punjab means land of five rivers, derived from an Indo-Iranian word. Punjab is one of the prominent states of India. in early times, western sides of Punjab was under Persians, eastern side has Indian civilization, south under Arabs and northern sides under Turk-Mongol. Punjab had been centers of many historical events. Sikhism, Buddhism, Sufis and many others have been the highlights of Punjabi ethos and culture. Punjab has blend of all sorts of cultures and religions.

Rivers like Bias, Indus made the soil of Punjab very fertile. In the north of Punjab is Kashmir, south is stretched to Rajasthan. However, with frequent aggressions on Punjab, its boundaries have always varied. During reign of Babur and Maharaja Ranjit Singh; Punjab witnessed its golden era. In modern times, Punjab was divided into two sects Punjab and Haryana.

However, the sad story attached with Punjab is the time when India got independence and partition. Communal riots and mass killing brought the state under disrepute.

Today, beautiful city Chandigarh is capital of Punjab. Punjab is India's most prosperous states as has double per capita income to an average Indian. Although having fewer shares in population of India, Punjab is foremost providers of wheat and 10% of rice.

People can visit Golden Temple of Amritsar that is main Sikh Pilgrimage in India. Punjab host tourists, visitors from all over the globe including Pakistan and states like Himachal and Kashmir!
