Bahikhowa Maidam

Bahikhowa Maidam is one of the famous tourist attractions in Assam. It is located in Khowang Tea Estate of Dibrugarh. Bahikhowa Maidam is the final resting place of Bahikhowa Dasarath Dowerah, the army chief of the Ahom dynasty. The tomb stands in the memory of the army chief. The vast tea estate encircles the Bahikhowa Maidam and adds more charm to its appearance.

Why Is It Famous?

Bahikhowa Maidam is a mausoleum of Bahikhowa Dasarath Dowerah, the army chief of Ahoms. According to the legend, he was a courageous warrior and leader. The Ahom army didn’t lose any battle when he led a war. His sheer dedication was rewarded to him by building a mausoleum in Khowang.

Presently, it is a famous tea estate. The vast area of the tea estate is a huge attraction. Many people visit this place on a huge scale. Moreover, it serves as a great destination for photography.

Bahikhowa Maidam is a prominent tourists’ site where visitors flock in a large number. Though people visit it throughout the year, the best time for visiting this place is during monsoons. It is the best season because the downpour refreshes the entire tea estate and the lawn where the mausoleum stands.

Do not forget to sip the tea at the nearby tea stalls. The tea is prepared from the leaves plucked from the estate. If you are present there during monsoons, the fun of sipping the tea will increase for sure.
