Belum Caves

Belum Caves doesn't need a formal introduction. It is a well-known site of interest in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. It is known as the largest and the longest cave system in the Indian subcontinent. Belum Caves are accessible to the visitors. The deepest point of the cave, known as Paataalganga, is 151 feet below the entrance level. Countless tourists and foreign nationals visit this place and get surprised.

1) Belum Caves are known as the ‘underground monasteries'. The research tells that centuries ago, the Jain and Buddhist monks used these caves as a place for practicing meditation. Some relics like the stone slate and beds etc. were also discovered in the caves.
2) There are several sections inside these deep caves. Some of the must-see sections include the names like Pillidwaram, Kotilingalu Chamber, Patalaganga, Musical Chamber, Thousand Hoods, and others.
3) A sizable idol of Buddha carved out of white marble  is placed near one of the hillocks close to Belum Caves

Best Time To Visit:-

The best time to pay a visit to Belum Caves is during the months of September-February. It's the right time for exploring the depths of the caves without fearing the high temperatures. The visitors have to pay an entrance fee depending on their nationality. There is an arrangement of proper ventilation in Belum Caves.
