How to reach & Things to do at Golden Sand Beach,Poovar Island:

On your trip to Kovalam, you can comfortably plan your trip to Poovar Island and the golden sand beach. The island is only 17 km away from Kovalam.

Otherwise, if you plan to reach Poovar directly from your place, catch a train to Dhanuvachapuram railway station which is only 9 km away from it. Otherwise, you may reach Trivandrum Central railway station which is 55 km away from the island. Then hire a cab or any other state transportation to reach your destination.

Trivandrum international airport is the nearest airport from Poovar. The island is 50 km away from it.

But it would be best if you plan your travel from Kovalam by a speed boat over the Neyyar River. It is a 45 minutes’ journey through magical nature. You can plan one day at Poovar before reaching the golden sand beach. Trust me; you will keep this experience locked in your heart for the rest of your life. You need to cross the dense forest of Mangroves and coconut woods on either side. This is an exclusively different experience to cruise through the tapered canals between the mangroves and the birds sing harmoniously around.
