Sadiya

Sadiya is a famous tourist attraction in Assam. It is a village located in Tinsukia district and served as the third capital of Sutiya Kingdom. This place was established in the 12th century by Ratnadhwajpal. For the 300 years, the Sutiya dynasty ruled the entire region of Sadiya. During the reign of Sutiyas, many structures were constructed to mark the dominance in the region. Today, many tourists visit this place from different parts of Assam.

Why Is It Famous?

Sadiya was developed by the legendary Chutiya (Sutiya) King Bhishmak. He constructed a small township and named it after himself. Later on, the same city was remodeled and expanded by Gaurinarayan, the second ruler of Medieval Sutiyas. During his reign, many buildings were remodeled in the Sutiya architecture and gardens were built. The palace of the Sutiya clan was constructed on a hillock that overlooked the entire district of Tinsukia.

The British powers wanted to siege Sadiya but were unsuccessful. The Sutiya armed forces failed their every attempt to cross the border.

Sadiya is an amazing travel attraction. Its natural beauty magnetizes the tourists from different parts of Assam and nearby states. Thus, it serves as a perfect vacation spot for many. People visit Sadiya throughout the year. But, the best time to visit this place is during winters and early summers.

You can reach Tinsukia via roadways, railways, and airways. The state-run buses, broad gauge railheads, and flights are the best option to reach Tinsukia. People travel within the district via local transit and animal carts.
