The Idol of Sri Krishna from the Guruvayoor Temple was brought to the Ambalappuzha Temple for safekeeping during Tipu Sultan's raids in 1789.

Among Hindu devotees, the Payasam served at the Ambalappuzha Temple is well-known. This Rice-and-Milk Sweet Pudding Has An Interesting Mythological Legend Behind It. Guruvayoorappan is said to arrive here every day at Palpayasa Nedyam time, eat it, and then return to the hotel for the night.
