Thimphu - Punakha - Paro 5N 6D Tour

Your journey begins with a scenic flight into Paro International Airport (PBH), considered one of the most stunning airport landings in the world.

Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by your Bhutanese guide and transferred to Thimphu, the capital city (approx. 1.5-hour drive).

After checking in and some rest, you can begin your local sightseeing. A key highlight is the Buddha Dordenma, a massive bronze statue of Buddha Shakyamuni, offering a panoramic view of the Thimphu valley.

You may also visit the National Memorial Chorten, a beautiful stupa dedicated to the third Druk Gyalpo (King of Bhutan).

In the evening, explore the vibrant streets of Thimphu or visit the majestic Tashichho Dzong, a fortress and monastery that serves as the seat of the government.

After breakfast, continue exploring Thimphu. You can visit the Folk Heritage Museum to learn about Bhutan's traditional rural life and the National Takin Preserve to see the unique national animal.

Next, you'll take a scenic drive to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. The route takes you over the Dochula Pass, where you can see 108 memorial stupas (chortens) and, on a clear day, enjoy a stunning view of the Eastern Himalayas.

After descending into the warm Punakha valley, you will check into your hotel.

Today, you will visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, also known as "The Palace of Great Happiness." Situated at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, it is one of the most beautiful fortresses in Bhutan.

You may also take a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang, the "Temple of the Divine Madman," a fertility temple nestled among rice fields.

In the afternoon, you will drive back to the picturesque Paro valley.

Today is the highlight of your tour: a hike to the famous Taktsang Monastery, commonly known as the Tiger's Nest. This sacred site is perched precariously on a cliffside, 900 meters above the Paro valley.

The trek is challenging but rewarding, taking approximately 4-5 hours round trip. You can also hire a pony for the uphill journey to the main viewpoint.

After the hike, you can relax at a traditional hot stone bath or visit a local farmhouse to experience Bhutanese hospitality.

After breakfast, you will explore other attractions in the Paro valley.

Visit the National Museum of Bhutan, housed in a circular watchtower (Ta Dzong), which offers a rich collection of Bhutanese artifacts, thangkas, and stamps.

Next, visit Rinpung Dzong, a beautiful fortress with ancient murals. The bridge over the Paro River offers a great photo opportunity.

You can also visit the ancient Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan.

The rest of the day is at your leisure for shopping or exploring Paro town on your own.
