Standing majestically in a sprawling area of 200 acres is a palatial structure called Jagatjit Palace. This once residential building of Maharaja Jagatjit Singh of Kapurthala has today been transformed into an education center with the Sainik School housed in it. The architectural brilliance of the palace reflects the glory, grandeur, and love for the art of the bygone rulers. The Palace of Versailles and Fontainebleau have been the inspiration behind the architectural grandiose of this palace. The construction of this palace took eight years for completion and this magnificent palace was handed over as a residential building to Maharaja Jagatjit Singh in 1908.

1) The Indo-Saracen and French style architecture of the building makes it a true sight to behold.
2) The French style interiors with ‘beaux art’ showcasing various breathtaking figurines and statues offer a glimpse at the rich taste of the Maharajas of the time.
3) The Durbar Hall and various artifact collections like marbles statues, lapis lazuli pillars, Louvre’s impressions on Mansard roof, oeil-de-boeuf windows, imported furniture, and various figurines mesmerize the visitors.
4) Various other artifacts like 19th-century mechanical clock with time of 12 Asian & European countries along with information about the planetary position or the pneumatic orchestra with automated tune player.

Lovers of splendid architecture and royal palaces can visit this attraction at any time of the year. However, as per the weather of Kapurthala, it would be advisable for tourists to come here during the months of October and November.
