Standing on a 272 feet high rock, Tiruchirappalli Rock Fort is a fort in the city of Trichy. This fort is an architectural marvel that was constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture. It has been the ruling throne of the clans like the Chola, Pallava, Nayaka, Mughal, and the British. The walls and the gates of the Rock Fort have witnessed various battles and wars during different times. Presently, its name is listed among the frequented sites in Tiruchirappalli.

1) Tiruchirappalli Rock Fort houses 2 Hindu temples in its premises. Ucchi Pillayar Temple (Ganesha Mandir) and Thayumanaswami Temple (Shiva Mandir) are located in the fort since ages
2) The entire fort is built using rocks. No beams and concrete can be found in the walls of the forts
3) The Hindu temples located inside the fort are also carved out of the rock. Close to the temples, a secret cave tunnel is located which is said to serve as a passage for the armies
