Upon arrival in the capital, the Tass team will escort you to the legendary Fairmont The Norfolk. A cornerstone of East African history since its opening in the early 1900s, this hotel is a prized gem of the Fairmont collection and has long been the social heart of Nairobi.Your first full day features a curated tour of the city’s treasures. We’ll explore the National Museum and visit the Giraffe Centre for a close encounter with the rare Rothschild giraffes. We also pay homage to the estate of Karen Blixen; her 1937 masterpiece, Out of Africa, remains one of the most poignant literary tributes to the continent. After an evening of fine dining and engaging company back at the Norfolk, you’ll be perfectly prepared to begin your quintessential African safari.

As Elspeth Huxley beautifully noted in The Flame Trees of Thika, the sky here is defined by massive, drifting clouds that resemble "huge swirls of whipped cream." These breathtaking vistas often tempt guests to take to the skies for an optional hot-air balloon safari. We arrive in the Mara from Nairobi, spending our days on exhilarating game drives. Each evening, we’ll retreat to the Fairmont Mara Safari Club or Kichwa Tembo to enjoy sundowners, soaking in the peaceful yet vibrant energy of the Mara from our tented camp.

After departing the Maasai Mara, we journey to Lake Nakuru National Park via road, checking into the Lake Nakuru Flamingo Lodge in time for lunch. After a relaxing afternoon at the lodge, we’ll head out for an evening game drive to witness the park's diverse birdlife and savannah residents as the sun begins to set. The following morning, after an early breakfast, we embark on a sunrise game drive. This is the optimal time to spot the park's famous inhabitants, including both Black and White Rhinos, Cape buffalo, and giraffes. After returning to the lodge for a midday meal, we’ll head back out to explore the lake’s edge, where thousands of flamingos often gather in a stunning pink display. We’ll conclude the day with a sunset drive back to the lodge for dinner and a second overnight stay.

We depart early for a short, two-hour drive into the heart of the Great Rift Valley. Our destination is Hell’s Gate National Park, a place of raw geological beauty named for its intense geothermal energy and rising steam vents. Unlike most African parks, Hell’s Gate encourages active exploration; we’ll take the opportunity to bike and hike through its breathtaking sandstone gorges.The park’s skyline is dominated by ancient volcanic remnants, most notably Fischer’s Tower. This jagged spire, formed by volcanic eruptions millions of years ago, serves as a monument to the region's fiery past and is a favorite challenge for rock climbers today. After exploring the narrow corridors of the gorge and witnessing the nearby Olkaria Geothermal Station, you’ll see why this "sensational" landscape has inspired travelers for decades. Following our adventures in the park, we will head to the Enashipai Resort & Spa for a well-deserved rest and an overnight stay in its lush, tranquil surroundings.
