Futureworld Eco Technology Centre Futureworld Eco Technology Centre is located in Wollongong Sydney and this attraction demonstrates, exhibits and promotes Environmentally Appropriate Technologies. Futureworld's aim is to create community awareness of the need for eco- technologies uptake in order to protect the Earth's natural resources (such as energy, clean air and water, soils, plants and wildlife) for the future. Wollongong's Lighthouses Wollongong is the only point on the eastern coast of Australia which has two lighthouses. The lighthouse was built in 1871, is situated in the Belmore Basin on the southern breakwater. The height of tower 12.8 metres. This now disused lighthouse was initially powered by vegetable oils and in the 1910's by gas. There is no access inside the lighthouse, however it is a popular place for a picnic. Bald Hill Bald Hill is a good lookout and very well used by hang gliders. There is a memorial to Lawrence Hargrave an Australian pioneer of flgith. This monument stands to recognize the pioneering work of Hargrave in the field of aeronautics. He carried out a lot of his work from this very location, which helped the future development of the aeroplane.
