History

Palampur once formed a neighbourhood of the local Sikh Kingdom but later it came under British. Some colonial architecture can be seen on the hill station which was built during the British rule.
Palampur came into being when an Englishman, Dr Jameson, the superintendent of Botanical garden during that time introduced the tea bush from Almora in the year 1849. The bush thrived then did the town which became a focus of the ECU tea estate owners. The Kangra tea from that time got internationally acclaimed.

You can also catch an HRTC bus which is definitely available from Gaggal to Palampur. Chandigarh airport is the nearest airport to Palampur.
Palampur is well-connected with all the main cities of Himachal Pradesh. Direct buses run from Dharamsala, Manali, Kangra, Chandigarh and also from the capital city. The costs of buses are quite reasonable, starting from INR 500-1000 counting on the deluxe and non-deluxe buses.
The nearest railroad station to Palampur is Pathankot railroad station. It at a distance of 90 km from Palampur. Variety of buses and taxis are available from Pathankot to Palampur.
Palampur may be a small village and may be covered on foot. To reach Neugal Khad, Palampur simply takes local transport.
