History

The concept of having tea estate incepted in the 19th century in India. Since then only, these tea estates or tea gardens have been a tea lover’s heaven. Dr. Jameson started the first-ever tea plantation in the beautiful town of Palampur. The Camelia tea was planted in this tea garden in 1849.

If you talk about the best time to visit Palampur, it could be not anything better than the months between August and December and from February to June. These are the months when the temperature is pretty pleasant. It’s not very hot nor is it too cold. If you visit during the winter, the temperature could get extremely hot.

In order to reach the tea gardens, you first need to reach Palampur. There are many direct buses by HRTC that are plying from different cities in Himachal and its nearby states. If you are visiting in your own car, the road is very straight that crosses Kangra, Dharamshala, and other cities. Palampur also has its own railway station where you can get down. Once you are in Palampur, the tea garden is around 3 kilometers from there. You can easily get autos, taxis, and other local transport to take you to the popular tea garden and the tea factory.
