Shahpurkandi Fort is one among not-to-be-missed tourist attractions in the Indian state of Punjab. This fort is located 7 km. from the main town of Pathankot and was built in the 16th century. The historical monument bears the name of the Mughal emperor Shahjahan and was constructed by a Rajput chieftain, Jaspal Singh Pathania. The prime purpose of building this fort was to keep an eye and maintain supremacy on the regions of Kangra and Nurpur. At present, Shahpurkandi Fort stands in a semi-ruined position and attracts visitors on a huge scale.
