Mount Formidable is an impressive sight when climbers reach Cache Col on the Ptarmigan Traverse which is a very scenic mountaineering traverse from Cascade Pass south to Dome Peak. The rugged and remote Mt Formidable has several routes ranging from glacier traverses with scrambling on the south side, to more technical routes on the north side involving class 5 rock and requiring ice screws for icefalls on the Formidable Glacier. There are campsites on the north at Kool Aid Lake, and to the south of Formidable at Yang Yang Lakes.
