Takou Mountain (Núi Tà Cú) is a famous spiritual and natural destination located in Ham Thuan Nam District, about 30 kilometers southwest of Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province, Vietnam. Rising over 649 meters above sea level, the mountain is best known for its stunning panoramic views, lush tropical forest, and, most notably, the gigantic Reclining Buddha statue housed within the Linh Son Truong Tho Pagoda.

- By Car/Taxi: The most convenient way is by taxi or private car from Phan Thiet or Mui Ne. The journey takes around 45 to 60 minutes.
- By Motorbike: Renting a motorbike from Phan Thiet or Mui Ne is a popular and affordable option. The drive is scenic and relatively easy to navigate.
- By Bus: Buses or local minivans heading toward Ke Ga or Ham Thuan Nam can drop you near the base of the mountain, but this option is less convenient and may require some walking.
Once at the base, visitors can choose between hiking up the mountain or taking the cable car.
The weather on Takou Mountain is generally cooler than in Phan Thiet city due to its elevation.

Takou Mountain is famous for several reasons. The most iconic is the 49-meter-long Reclining Buddha, the largest of its kind in Vietnam. Nestled within the Linh Son Truong Tho Pagoda at the summit, the statue represents Buddha’s peaceful passage into nirvana. In addition, the mountain is rich in biodiversity and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and coastline.
The mountain is also known as a sacred pilgrimage site, with various temples, shrines, and spiritual paths winding through the forest. Every year, thousands of locals and tourists come here during Vietnamese holidays and Buddhist festivals.
The hike to the top takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. The cable car takes about 10 minutes and offers stunning aerial views of the forest canopy.
The history of Takou Mountain is deeply tied to local spiritual traditions. The Linh Son Truong Tho Pagoda was built in the mid-20th century and became a pilgrimage site shortly after the construction of the Reclining Buddha statue in 1963.
The architectural style of the pagoda and statue is a mix of Vietnamese Buddhist design, with curved tiled roofs, dragon motifs, and large altars adorned with offerings. The area also features several smaller shrines and statues along the trail, which pilgrims visit to pray and pay respect.
