Tikona Fort is an ancient fort in Maval region of Pune. As per its name, ‘Tikona’ means ‘triangular’ in Hindi language and the construction of the fort resembles a triangle at the peak, thus, giving it the name Tikona Fort. It was first ruled by Nizam Ahmed Malik Shah I but his territory was annexed by Chhatrapati Shivaji including the entire region of Konkan. This fort has been the ruling throne of many clans till 1947. Post-independence, it became a monument of national interest and an eminent tourist site in Pune, Maharashtra.

1) Tikona Fort is known for its historical charm. This fort has served as the ruling seat for numerous clans till the British rule in India.
2) The fort is surrounded by the mesmerizing valley and has a misty backdrop of the beautiful Sahydari Range.
3) The interior walls of the fort still have the stains of the blood of the Maratha soldiers that died battling the British troops.
4) Today, it is seen as a perfect trekking site in the region.

There’s no special time for paying a visit to Tikona Fort in Pune. This place attracts numerous tourists and has never disappointed them. It can be visited during any season, however, one should be careful while visiting the place during extreme summers. Extra water, sunscreen, and a medical kit should be carried while visiting the place during summers.

A well-established network of the roadways and railways connects Tikona Fort with other parts of Pune. To reach the fort, the local jeeps can be hired till Tikona Peth village for commencing the trek to this historical fort.
