There is an entry fee required to enter the premises of Matheran. No vehicles are allowed here, so need to walk through the viewpoints. From one year back, adults are charged with Rs 50 and children are charged with Rs 25 to enter this area.

Louisa Point lies at a walking distance from the Matheran railway station. It will take 40 minutes to reach there. You can also hire ponies to ride there which is available at the Matheran market. Per pony you will be required to pay Rs 500. But the route to Louisa is soothing for the eyes with its dark green cover.

To reach Matheran, you can use the airways, roadways or railways according to your comfort.

By air – Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai is the nearby airport.

By rail – you can board trains for Neral railway station (11 km away), Kalyan Junction (45 km away) and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (94 km away), whichever is comfortable for you.

By road – Neral bus stop is the closest to Matheran. It is only 12 km away from your destination.

After reaching the airport, railway station or bus stop, you need to hire any local car or any other vehicle to reach Louisa.
