Nimishamba Temple

Nimishamba Temple is a Hindu temple in Karnataka. It stands near Cauvery River and is dedicated to the Goddess Nimishamba, a form of Goddess Parvati. This temple was built over 850 years ago by a Wodeyar King Mummadi Krishnarajan. It is entirely built in the Wodeyar style of architecture and carries different sculptures on its exteriors walls.

2)    It enshrines Goddess Parvati in the form of Devi Nimishamba and is worshiped by the followers on a huge scales.

3)    The presiding deity is offered lemons and garlands made of lemon. This practice is continuing since ages.

4)    Some lemons are kept for the holy rituals, whereas, some are returned to devotees. Some also offer the saree and blouse with the set of bangles to Goddess Nimishamba.

5)    Varalakshmi Festival, Durgashtami, and all Fridays of the year are considered as the most sacred days and witness a huge footfall.

Pilgrims are not allowed to click pictures inside the temple premises, especially sanctum. Thus, all are expected to abide by the rules and shouldn’t break them. Also, none is allowed to enter the temple with leather items.
