The Chikkigudi Group is located at a small distance to the north of the Ambigeragudi group of temples. It is a group of shrines or temples that are speculated to be constructed in the 7th century. Among the group of temples that are present in this complex, Chikkiguid is the largest one. Like other gudi temples in the ancient town of Aihole, near Bagalkot, the temples in the Chikkigudi group are also constructed in a similar manner with a hall, a porch, and a cell temple or cellar. The largest temple in the group, i.e., the Chikkigudi temple also has a hall, a mandapa, and a cell shrine bound by the carved walls. The interior of the temple has exuberant sculptures and even the detailed artwork can easily mesmerize anyone.
It Is Known For:-
1) The largest temple of Chikkigudi with the large front hall, mandapa, and the cell shrines within its precincts.
2) The amazing sculptures on the walls of the temple which make this grasp the fancy of both, the history buffs and the ones who have interest in carvings.
